Epilogue explains the many interviews the author has done with Henrik Enrique, Lourdes and his family since Enrique's journey was first published in 2006. It reveals his efforts to become a husband and father in a frequently hostile environment for Enrique's fight against drug addiction, his mother's relationship, and illegal immigrants. In many respects, Enrique is a symbol of many of his brothers who came to the United States illegally. Finally, the conclusion raises doubts and provides a solution to solve socio-economic problems caused by Enrique's story.
Lazarus and Hughes are like the struggle of today's immigrants and lower classes. Enrique is such an immigrant who was influenced by the struggle above. Sonia Nazario is the author of "The Enrique Journey". Enrique is the protagonist of this story. Enrique is an immigrant of Honduras who travels in South America and wishes to send a better life for himself. More importantly, he wants to reconnect with his mother in the United States. Enrique's mother Lourdes went on a privately dangerous journey in hopes of bringing a better future to their children. The general explanation of Enrique's story is that it has a very deep resonance with the idea of "New Colossus". Considering how bad the circumstances of other countries are, women may be at risk of murder, rape, cutting, hunger, heavy sickness and so on. This is conceptually the same as the ideal proposed in "New Colossus".
