English major: 36 semesters (about 12 courses) including at least 7 literary courses and 1 writing course. The remaining courses can concentrate in all areas (American literature, literary theory, British literature, medieval literature, multinational and post colonial literature or creative literature)
For English major, a minimum course of 36 s.h. (12 courses) is required. Students can do for up to 6 hours. For English major, you can use CW (Creative Writing) as a prefix, and other CW courses can be used as graduate students' elective subjects. The course is divided into 6 regions and 3 historical periods. The area and the historical period of each regular course offering are determined by the description of the course of MyUI. Information and course lists are also available on English consultants and departmental websites.
Each student selects one of the six areas as a concentrated area, offers two additional courses within that area, and offers a total of three courses (over 9 hours) to one area.
Since most courses meet both regional and historical periods, most students complete historical requirements when completing regional requirements and select additional elective subjects to complete the major can do. The occupational requirement of 36 s.h. 15 s.h. may be transferred from other agencies. We do not accept professional online courses or community college courses. At least 21 s.h. of occupation must live in Iowa College
It is part of the explanation of the English education profession of the Faculty of Education. The main requirements of English major are as follows. Level "D" is not counted to meet the main requirements. However, the evaluation of "D" or "F" in the English course will be used to calculate the primary GPA unless the course is restored based on the level tolerance policy. Students can not use some educational research to meet key requirements. Transfer students must major in South Florida University within at least 15 hours. 2.5 GPA major is required for graduation
Major courses in English focus on creative writing and English major subjects focus on professional writing and rhetoric. Each English major requires 12 courses. In this department three English minors, writing creation, professional writing and rhetoric are offered. Applicants who wish to enroll must learn at least one English course in the first year. For 100 level courses, both professional and nonprofessional students need some 200 level courses. According to the policy of the university, the undergraduate awards the course with a score of 4 or 5 before entrance to the university, but these units are not included in the requirements of the English ability of 11 courses.
