Girls' Encouragement in Mathematics and Science In the ideal classroom of elementary school, boys and girls can learn fairly and equally, and it is encouraged to participate in the classroom. My teacher hopes that both boys and girls can do the same. Teachers make a respected atmosphere, teachers and students respect each other. The reality is that girls will soon get discouraged by pursuing mathematics and science-related careers.
One of the important stereotypes: boys are naturally superior to girls in mathematics and science. There is little evidence that this is true. Indeed, there is much evidence that girls are as talented as mathematics and science boys. In the United States, girls and boys function equally well. In many countries, girls are better than boys in mathematics and science. This is the result of the research published in Intelligence magazine last year. Nevertheless, Mr. Morrison said that the advantage of boys in mathematics and science is still "rooted." In other words, even if there is no evidence to support, people can stick to this idea. And deep - seated ideas may affect people in an unobtrusive way. According to the survey, there are even possibilities to lower girls' performance in mathematics and science issues.
So we are working hard to change these stereotypes. That is why we encourage more girls to pursue love for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. (Applause) That is why we emphasize the reasons for female pioneers and encourage media to describe more women in STEM. That is why we started a campaign for men and women to fight sexual assault on campus. That is why we have to change the military culture from top to bottom and seriously consider this problem. That is why in cooperation with local communities, companies and foundations we rethink our workplace policies, fund women entrepreneurs, increase women's leadership and create opportunities for colorful girls and women . (applause)
Over the past year and a half, I encouraged more girls to enter the exciting world of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and created a warm environment for girls at Trent University I have made an effort. Computer Science major. I gained a lot of wonderful opportunities by co-hosting Trent 's Hackason, Electronic City Hacking, seminars and events for women at STEM, and activities in that field. I have a great passion for computer science and we provide girls with opportunities to explore this field equally. So when I encountered opportunities to participate in activities with the theme of equality and gave women the power to educate MICHELLE OBAMA as a distinctive speaker, I jumped over it.
