Section 6 Impact of Workplace Accidents on Case Study Staff 6.1 Introduction This section describes the overall cost of employee workplace accidents. It then describes the results of the overall physical and psychological impact of the accident to the injured employee. Please note that due to the small number of case studies, the survey results show only the types and extent of costs incurred by employees in accidents in the workplace. Similarly, the figures are not adjusted for inflation, it is necessary to remember that 15 out of 20 incidents since 2002 have occurred, two of which occurred before 2000. The amount of compensation for injured employees is due to an accident at work. These figures have been calculated until June 2006 when costs were incurred.

INTRODUCTION This report explains the details and analysis of 20 cases of occupational accident case studies. The purpose of this survey was to emphasize the economic, physical and psychological impact of work-related injuries to employees and employers. Case studies are explained from a personal point of view so that readers can understand the physical reality of work-related injuries and their subsequent effects. Employees and employers who participated in the survey had no judgment or error, there was only the personal impact of the report and the economic loss of the organization in which they were working. These 20 case studies are not representative of the Irish workplace. Expanding the results of empirical research presented here to a wider workforce may be misleading due to the small number of people involved. Accidents in the workplace must be considered from a perspective. Most people will spend their work and life without injuries or illnesses directly caused by the workplace.
