At the age of 11, Marcus Aurelius discovered stoicism and by the age of 20 he quit other philosophical studies. Emperor Hadrian son, who took over him Antonius Pius adopted Aureus as his son at 138 A.D. About a year later, Marcus Aurelius was appointed to marry Emperor 's daughter Faustina. Emperor Antoninus Pius liked Aurelius very much. And in 147 he shared power with Antoninus.
