On March 27, 2013, the amendment of Section 80 of the regulations and regulations of regulated substances of NYCRR was adopted as the final rule and was enforced. With this amendment, practitioners will issue an electronic prescription of regulated substances from schedule II to V, and pharmacists will be able to approve, annotate, distribute, and electronically archive these prescriptions.

Practitioners who can not prescribe electronically can request an exemption or submit evidence on a case by case basis.

Section 281 (3) (c) of the Public Health Act (PHL) stipulates exemption or renewal of the specified period (within one year) decided by the Secretary.

Section 281 (7) of the Public Health Act (PHL) states that no more than 25 prescribing doctors can submit certificates or updates in 12 months.

Electronic prescription (electronic prescription or electronic prescription) is computer-based electronic generation, sending and filling out medical prescriptions, replacing paper and fax prescriptions. Rationale: Electronic opioid prescriptions offer many benefits to written prescriptions, such as improved monitoring of opioid prescriptions, reduced error rates, repetition rates, counterfeit prescriptions and more. Electronic prescription also allows the use of a clinical decision support system, which helps providers to apply evidence-based guidelines when prescribing opioids. Status: electronic prescription of regulated substances is legal in all 50 states. As of September 2016, only one medical institution had a medical system that could use electronic prescription, but regulated drug prescription trading was less than 15%. 108, 109

Both PBM and pharmacy play an important role in the growing popularity of electronic prescription. Opioid electronic prescriptions may reduce the prescription of counterfeiting and fraudulent substances 130. In 2016, less than 15% of the US regulated substance prescription was prescribed electronically. It was promulgated in March and the electronic prescription of regulated substances increased by 54% in 2016. Other laws and evaluations to monitor its impact are important to maximize the use of electronic prescriptions as a tool to more effectively manage the prescription opioid supply.
