The electromagnetic spectrum of junior high school students is around us and appears in various forms. Since air is composed of molecules carrying sound, sound waves can pass through the air. Another type of wave is electromagnetic waves. Electromagnetic waves are different from sound waves because they do not require movement of molecules. This means that electromagnetic waves can pass not only space but also air and solid substances (Groleau 2011). The electromagnetic spectrum consists of all energy waves found in our universe.

The electromagnetic spectrum is a generic term for all possible electromagnetic radiation frequencies. "Electromagnetic spectrum" of an object has a different meaning but is a characteristic distribution of electromagnetic radiation emitted or absorbed by that particular object. When electrons move from one electronic carrier to another, their energy levels are reduced and energy is released.

Electromagnetic radiation is transmitted by waves or particles of different wavelengths and frequencies. This wide range of wavelengths is called the electromagnetic spectrum EM spectrum. Spectra are usually divided into seven areas in order of decreasing wavelength and increasing energy and frequency. Common names are radio waves, microwaves, infrared (IR), visible light, ultraviolet (UV), X-rays, gamma rays. Microwaves are included in the EM spectrum between radio waves and infrared rays.

The electromagnetic spectrum is a spectrum that can radiate electromagnetic waves and can detect electromagnetic waves. The electromagnetic spectrum includes waves of microwave, radar, satellite, UHF T.V., VHF T.V., FM radio, CB radio, amateur radio, AM radio. All these waves are called millimeter waves. They are impossible waves. The only waveform seen in the electromagnetic spectrum is ultraviolet light. Some waves can damage your health. For example, microwave ovens emit radiation, which can cause problems and affect health. Then some people will not do anything to your body. Some waves may be affected by the weather, such as the T.V. signal or the electromagnetic wave with static electricity on a very windy day.

Visible spectrum diagram X-ray, light and radio waves are examples of electromagnetic waves. Light is a part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we can detect by eye. At the blue end of the visible spectrum, the wavelength of the light becomes shorter (about 400 nm). At the red end of the spectrum, the wavelength of the light becomes longer (about 700 nm) (from Abrisa Glass & Coatings, 2005). This wavelength range is called visible light. A rainbow appears in the sky, when it is refracted by a prism, or there is white light diffracted by the usual surface of the CD, you see a series of colors. Different colors are associated with light of different wavelengths. The purple light is at the short wavelength end (400 nm) of the visible spectrum, the red light is at the long wavelength end (700 nm) of the visible spectrum, and there is a rainbow color in the middle.
