Egg Drop Competition

Parcels are processed in some way everyday. Without packaging, our standard of living will be much lower than the current level. Most of us do not know the science or engineering to make packaging materials. Packaging engineering is a relatively new multidisciplinary field where the principles of applied science and engineering are being developed to manufacture packaging that protects, preserves, notifies, and sells, including products.

The purpose of competition is to design packaging (boxes and packaging) to prevent raw eggs from falling from 60 feet without breaking and to protect! It is best to pack a soft, crushable package containing a lot of air. Foamed rubber or plastic, feather, cotton or synthetic cotton is a good "cushion". Think of a soft, soft, lightweight material. What soft fluffy materials can I use? How to minimize the weight of the packaging (box and packaging) and the size of the box?

You can test each package more than once at a higher height to determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners.

Participants bring their own packaging to the event. Site building does not provide material

It is impossible to enter commercially constructed packaging (injection, or thermoforming in the form of blisters, clam shells etc.). Commonly available materials (plastic, styrofoam, paper, cloth etc.) can be used for the construction of boxes and packaging.

The containers contain openings for inserting eggs and must check for damage to activity personnel.

If you have a tie, the package will be packed in a packaging shredder, weight will increase until the egg breaks. (Package can be compressed)

The Egg Drop Project teaches students to use logic and teamwork to prevent eggs from falling. There are many ways to make eggs. I will first explain the process and distribute the eggs to the students. Please set your egg drop parameters and deadline when your students need to fall or be ready to bankrupt. Many successful egg drop designs use a sturdy container to protect the contents from the initial impact of water droplets. These rigid containers can be plastic food containers or cartons. But a hard container alone is not enough to completely protect the egg. It is necessary to fill the inside of the container. Styrofoam, sponge, cotton ball, foam wrapping paper, even even a newspaper can be used to make excellent liners in containers. Give students time to practice various materials before laying eggs
