According to Medscape, primary insomnia is insomnia that can not be attributed to medical, psychiatric or environmental reasons. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Text Revision (DSM - IV - TR) presents five diagnostic criteria for primary insomnia. The main symptom according to DSM-IV-TR is that it is difficult to start or maintain sleep, or to take non-recovering sleep for at least 1 month.

Symptoms / performance / problem: The main symptoms of psychophysical insomnia and lack of sleep hygiene are difficult to fall down and fall asleep. Patients with psychophysiological insomnia are often worried in bed, and it is often said that "My brain is difficult to late at night or rest." Treatment options: cognitive therapy, behavioral correction, relaxation method, and if necessary drug therapy are effective for psychophysiological insomnia patients. Changes in lifestyle are essential for people with poor sleep hygiene. These include restricting caffeine in the morning, banning cigarettes and alcohol, and removing the watch from the bedside. These tips and other tips are listed in the sleep hygiene table at the end of this chapter.

Primary insomnia is a sleep disorder not attributable to medical, mental or environmental reasons. There are three main types of major insomnia. These include psychophysiology, idiopathic insomnia, and misunderstanding of sleeping states (contradictory insomnia). Psychophysiological insomnia is caused by anxiety. Idiopathic insomnia usually begins in childhood and continues for a single life. This suggests that idiopathic insomnia is a neurochemical problem controlling a part of the brain during the sleep-wake cycle, resulting in sleep deprivation sleep or overactive wakefulness signals. They misunderstand the misunderstanding of sleep if people do not sleep enough, but do not think exactly that they have insufficient sleep.
