Today, 80% of infants are vaccinated against diphtheria, whooping cough, polio, measles, tetanus and tuberculosis (Landrige 2000). This percentage has increased from about 5% in the mid-1970s, but the number of deaths from these infections is about 3 million per year. Millions of people die from vaccinating, untrustworthy, or expensive infections. All the functions of the vaccine take into account the same idea that the immune system rapidly disintegrates before the rapid destruction of certain pathogenic factors or pathogens and the drug grows sufficiently to cause symptoms (Landrige 2000).

Costs for manufacturing pharmaceuticals and vaccines are usually high, which may require special storage conditions that are not readily available in third-party countries. Researchers are working on the development of edible vaccines for tomatoes and potatoes. These vaccines are easier to transport, store and manage than traditional vaccinations. Comparing the method of administering edible vaccines with conventional methods is very inexpensive to use edible vaccines. This is because the substance called immunoglobulin is important because it is made from tobacco plants. Immunization methods are very passive, like making antibodies in breast milk, it can help children from harmful pathogens. Several edible vaccines known to succeed in disease prevention include Escherichia coli, Norwalk virus and others.
