He showed mercy to all of the deaths and destruction witnessed by the soldiers who shot his teapot, and if they were surrounded by them for a long time, he not only died but he was also killed is. Surviving the war is absurd. Edgar Derby and Simon experienced absurd death caused by unnecessary murder by others. When Simon tried to tell the boy that the beast was not genuine, he struck the ceremony of killing pigs and was killed by a crazy frightened boy who satiated him as a beast.
Edgardby Derby is a high school teacher from Indianapolis who became an informal leader of an American prisoner in Dresden. He is fundamentally a decent man and a natural leader. He is also very kind to Billy Pilgrim. After the fire and explosion in Dresden, he was stolen from the teapot and was looted by the Germans - a meaningless death emphasizing absurdity and tragedy of war Lionel Melbul Lionel Melbull is Billy Pilgrim 's father - in - law. He prepared Billy 's successful optometric exercises. When he and Billy went to the Optometrist Conference, he was killed in an airplane accident; Billy and the First Officer were the only survivors. Although not a bad guy, Leonelmerpur may be seen as representing a shallow materialist theory of the United States after a ruthless and cruel war.

When he was first placed in a slaughterhouse at a slaughterhouse, a 16 year old German was accused of protecting Billy and Edgar Derby. He did not know his way, accidentally took Billy and Edgar to the public shower, and several German refugee girls in the eastern shower were showering. It is said that he resembles Billy. They were revealed by the talker as ancient cousins, but they have never been found in the novel. The structure of the grammar and sentences of this novel is simple, it is part of Vonnegt's symbolic style. Similarly, sarcasm, emotion, black humor, and preaching are common in all works. Like most of his work, the Slaughterhouse - Five is divided into small pieces, in this case short experiences at some point. Vonnegut himself insisted that his book "basically a mosaic of many small chips, every chip is a joke."
There are many sarcastic events in this book. One of them was when Edgar Derby was executed. Derby survived the most devastating bombing in World War II, but he was executed because he stole the teapot from the debris. That's all. Later, Billy's wife, Valencia, was visiting the hospital to see Billy when she encountered a big car accident. She was not hurt. But when she went to the hospital, she died within an hour after carbon monoxide poisoning. That's all. When he and Billy walked through the forest of Luxembourg, Roland Berry survived and was shot by the German army. Later he died in the gang train. That's all. The inconsistent event that happened at the Slaughterhouse Five was subtly hidden. At first glance people may miss them. However, if it takes time to examine some of the characters' deaths and some of the more ridiculous events in the novel, people will notice a stupid pattern.
