American Revolutionary Daughter (DAR) holds an essay contest every year for students from 5th graders to 12th graders.
At the local Sarah Ann Cochrane branch, DAR recommends students to participate in the following essay competitions according to grade level.

Students in this section will be assigned to the Ypsilanti High School, East Middle School, and / or West High School as assistants of the U - M HOPE (Health Vocational Education Partnership) program. Isabelle Sutherland is an eighth grade of Traverse City East Middle School and is the daughter of Mike and Rebecca Sutherland who won the 6th place in the America & Me Essay contest organized by Farm Bureau Insurance.
