An earthquake of magnitude 3 occurred 10 miles southeast of Norman and felt like North and Stillwater. For many students, the seismic activity in Oklahoma State is unknown, so a shock of a few seconds is an undiscriminable earthquake. Indeed, in Oklahoma there are many earthquakes almost every day, but usually it is not as strong as it feels.

Therefore, applied mathematics is a combination of mathematical science and expert knowledge. In the past, practical use promoted the development of mathematical theory, then mathematical theory became the subject of pure mathematical research where studies of abstract concepts were done for them. Therefore, the activities of applied mathematics are closely related to research of pure mathematics.
