Early marriage is a marriage between a child under the age of 18 and a young man. Reason: According to UNICEF's Innocenty Research Center, "The most common custom in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia is the girl's marriage." Marriage before adolescence in certain areas of West Africa, East Africa and South Asia is not uncommon. But the center also said that marriage immediately after puberty is common to the traditional lifestyle of the Middle East, North Africa and other Asian countries.

Child marriage and early marriage are mainly the same thing. That is, marriage between spouses or parties under 18 years of age. However, early marriage may be used to represent a marriage where one or both spouses are 18 years old, but their marriage consent has been compromised. For example, a 19-year-old marriage without physical or emotional maturity or without sufficient selection information is considered an early marriage. In developing countries, about 90% of adolescent parturition (girls aged 15 to 19 will give birth) will occur among married girls. This is because child marriage is often a precursor to early pregnancy and brings many health risks to girls who may not mature. Worldwide, complications of pregnancy and birth are the main causes of the death of adolescent girls.

Although pre-marital sex is not common in the Indian subcontinent, premature marriage may mean pregnancy in adolescence. The rate of premature marriage in rural areas is higher than in urbanized areas. The birthrate in South Asia is in the range of 71 to 119, which is a tendency to increase men's and women's age at marriage. In South Korea and Singapore, the incidence of sexual intercourse before marriage is increasing, but the birth rate of adolescents is as low as 4 to 8 per 1,000 people. Although the proportion of early marriage and pregnancy in Indonesia declined sharply, it is still very high compared with other parts of Asia.
