But Dylan is not a poet except George Michael is a poet. Bob Dylan is a text player with a gorgeous support rhythm and he often uses the same tools that our poet uses. There are reasons for teachers to use their lyrics in class. In a dialogue that "Please bring your favorite lyrics to the classroom so that we can talk about poetry", Dylan certainly has a place on a long table. Bob Marley, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Leonard Cohen and Nina Simone may be closer to my head in my arrangement, but he is definitely there

I was listening to Bob Dylan when I was in my 20s to 30s and Leonard Cohen when I was in my forties. Dylan resonates with young people. As Dylan obviously - men in their 20s to 30s are spectacular self-narcissistic and selfish. The majority of young people fall in love because they love themselves and their creations. Their spirituality is subjective, they do not fully consider their own "bad luck" and they feel they are not immortal. I am not trying to criticize Dylan. He is so wonderful. Even though he seems to be writing about social problems at that time, his so-called protest songs are always special. Of course, these songs are related to the political realm, but they are rooted in self with an upper case S. Likewise, even at Cohen, politics is not a big problem.
