Duke Ellington was born in Edward Kennedy of Eliteton on April 28, 1899 and appeared in Daisy and James Ellington, Washington, DC. They are the ideal role model of the young Duke and teach him the power of the table from etiquette to music. When he first received a piano lesson, he was only 8 years old. At the age of 14, he infiltrated the Frank Horadel pool. From his experience in the pool room he learned how to evaluate the value of mixing with the general public. He attended the Armstrong Manual Training School to learn commercial art, not scholarly oriented school.
