DUAL SPORT BIKES Pro's and Con's

As I did in another thread (or 2), I'm considering a dual sports (DS) route as I will buy a new "off-road" bike in the near future. I need to know experts and cheaters on DS bike ... It is well known that it is not a bicycle frequently used on the streets, and 90% on the road where rubber may encounter accident. More time will be spent ... ... My fear (as small as possible) is systematic such as dirt and a nap, inviting signal breakage and plate bracket etc.
