Drug abuse is always a serious problem worldwide. In Hong Kong, the number of drug addicts is increasing year by year, and the age of drug users is smaller. Cough medicine and thinner, two easily accessible and addictive substances, students, even elementary school students, have their first experience. Even though the number of drug abuse incidents reported each year is increasing, the government and the school are still looking for ways to prevent at least more children from falling into this deadly temptation.
Because of the seriousness of substance abuse and the government's serious concern about school drug tests, this study investigated Hong Kong's views on the causes of drug abuse and rehabilitation. Focused on youth recognition and knowledge of drug abuse and rehabilitation, we collected questionnaires from 109 adolescents aged 13 to 22 years old. The findings show that most young people know about drug abuse in Hong Kong and their impact on drug users. In addition to recognition of substance abuse, the cause and method of drug abuse is well known. However, there is the question "Why are young drug users still using drugs, even if you know the effects of drug abuse?" It is thought that there are external and internal influences that strongly influence these young drug users. In addition, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region should deal with these serious problems and take some action to support drug abusers.
