Drudging Through Academia: Four Articles

For me, reading the four designated articles is equivalent to ACT's "Reading" part. Both seem to be delayed many hours, so it is necessary to reread a lot to understand the whole message being attempted. These articles are not not worth reading. They contain valuable information about the very strict goals of today's academic community: writing. More directly, their focus seems to be a different way that can be used to help improve today's future writer's writing.

There are several reasons academic papers are the most important type of writing in academia. In most areas, success is tracked through journal articles. Recently, from a friend, I heard stories about how my department evaluates my term of office. Her chair summarized the spreadsheet of each article and the impact factor of each journal. This number represents the impact of the journal. By the total number, she decided the opportunity to get a term and her work was maintained. This very stressful example shows how journal articles determine success or failure in an academic career. But writing a journal article can be fun and should be so!
