Marie de France is the first female writer written in French. Her earliest manuscript was spelled Anglo-Norman, so her contact in English was proposed. Mary de France is known as one of the most revolutionary writers in her era, as it is not common for women to create text. Her allegory is still being studied as an example of what kind of literature was created in the 12th century.
