Dr. Joseph Henry Wythe's Path to Success

Dr. Joseph Henry Weiss (1822-1901) was born in Manchester, England on March 19, 1822. He is the son of Joseph Weiss and Mary Chamberlain. In 1832, JH Weiss went to the USA with his parents and started educating at a private school in Philadelphia. Through his own efforts and assistance of private education, he began acquiring natural science and Greek, Hebrew and Latin. In 1842, JH Weiss was 19 years old and became a pastor of Methodist church.

George Weiss (1726-1806) - George Weiss is well known as a classical scholar who taught Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, John Marshall, Henry Clay. From 1775 to 1776, the Continental Congress from 1777 to 1876, Chairman of the Virginia House of Representatives from 1777 to 1878, and Virginia Justice from 1789 to 1806.
