An important figure in Roman architecture of the High Renaissance was Donato Bramante (1444-1514). Urbino born Bramante became the first Milanian architect before heading to Rome. In Rome, Bermante was asked by Ferdinand and Isabella to design Tempiette, a temple symbolizing the exact location of St. Peter's martyrdom. The temple is round, like the early Christian prostitutes, and most of its designs are inspired by ruins of ancient temples.
By 1499, the French Milan occupation forced Bramante to Rome. Under the guidance of Alexander VI, he first designed the S. Maria della Pace monastery (Bramante, Donato, 1994). In 1476, Bramante's first big achievement was Santa Maria Presso Sant Satillo Church. It is commissioned by Duke Sfora and is dedicated to St. Satilas (biography book, nd). But the contribution of Bramante appeared in his converted chorus. Bramante made it look larger than actual by using perspective paintings. Using fantasy art, he showed the choir as if he had raised three bays, but this space actually does not exist. The wall prevented Bramante from building choirs. So, what you can see is only one meter deep (Web Gallery of Art, n.d).
