Donald Francis Tovey

Sir Donald Francis Stow (born July 17, 1875, July 10, 1975) is a British music analyst, musicologist, music composer, and pianist. He is best known for his music analysis thesis.

Tovey was learning composition with the piano since I was a child. He eventually learned music under the direction of Hubert Parry. Tovey became a best friend of Joseph Joachim, and in 1905 he collaborated with Joachim Quartet at Johannes Brahms Piano Quintet. As a composer, he has his work in Berlin, Vienna and London.

In 1903, under the guidance of Henry Wood, he played his piano concerto under the guidance of Hans Richter in 1906. In the meantime he also contributed greatly to the Britannica music article of 1911 and wrote most of the music of the 18th century. And in the 19th century

In 1914 he began teaching music at Edinburgh University where he founded Lead Orchestra. In their concert, he wrote a series of program notes. Many of them eventually were gathered in his most famous book, music analysis thesis.

Tovey has not been born so often in subsequent life, and started to run. In 1913 he created a symphony, in 1935 he wrote a cello concerto for Pablo Casals and wrote the opera "Bride of Dionysus". In a radio speech he recorded during the past few years, he was able to hear his performance being heavily influenced by one of his hand problems. Tovey produced music of several other composers and completed Die Kunst der Fuge of Johann Sebastian Bach in 1931. Tovey was named jazz in 1935. He died in Edinburgh in 1940.

Donald Francis Tovey is highly regarded as a composer, he is best known as a writer and music lecturer, his analysis thesis is its model. In his article Tovey has developed a theory of the relationship between the timbre structure applied to the description of fragments of his famous lead orchestra program notes and its classical form. His aesthetics emphasizes the importance of treating musical works as organic as a whole and understanding how the principles of music behave differently in the context of particular works.
