When people regarded the death of Socrates as martyrdom, he did not destroy what he said. Indeed, he explained everything he said earlier by drinking poison. Socrates is a martyr, because martyrs are defined as people who sacrifice their lives for others. Socrates showed martyrdom as he died for his friend. Socrates died for his friend to show them that they should not be afraid of death. He explained to his friend that the soul is immortal throughout the Faedo and he uses logical arguments to prove that this is the truth.

Faedo happened in the morning of Socrates' death, mainly dealing with the immortality of the soul. Faedo began to communicate the story of Pythagoras to Ekecrates, and he asked Faedo to tell him about his understanding of the death of Socrates. Faedo is willing to talk about how Socrates decided to take hemlock poison. Socrates was imprisoned for not believing in the gods of Athens and was accused of defiling young people in Athens. Socrates was sentenced to death by the political leader of Athens. When Socrates was dead, Ilhas Phaedo appeared.
