Domestic Violence and Patriarchal Societies

Over the centuries the problem of abuse of spouses and partners has been hidden throughout the culture. And this lack of general knowledge brought about the formation of myths and unreality. Most of us still insist on old concepts of domestic violence. Now, we want to know who the victim is and who is the perpetrator. Socialization and cultural adaptation play an important role, but the goal of patriarchal society is to rule women. This is not random violence. Women are gender targets, risk factors are women.

Domestic violence is a serious social problem that affects many women and children, and it is being strengthened by imbalance of power in the patriarchal society. Women's personal experience in domestic violence is linked to the wider social and political power of many groups of oppressed and marginalized societies, especially women and children. Domestic violence is defined as "trying to establish relationships-building power, control power, and fear using violence and other forms of abuse." Domestic violence is the physical, sexual or psychological abuse of women through marriage, family relations, or those closely related to her. It comes from the patriarchal system of society. Women have always been regarded as weak men and women. From the later Vedic period until the 21st century, women in India have never experienced the freedom the men had. They are affected by inequality. The combination of female dependent status and patriarchal ideology is the main cause of domestic violence. According to UNFPA's report, about two-thirds of Indian married women are victims of domestic violence. However, this behavior is not enough. Given the increasing number of domestic violence against women, the government needs to take more stringent measures to reduce domestic violence against women.

Domestic violence is a custom of our society. It shows different symptoms depending on the cause of social and domestic violence. All forms of domestic violence harm both families and society. It has a hostile influence on the lives of people, children, women and young people, and these lives created an exciting space to disrupt social relations. Domestic violence accompanied by sustained impact may affect the sound development of society. The main focus of this research is to identify domestic violence in society. Women's education and health is an important issue in promoting healthy growth of families and society. According to the patriarchal model in our society, women are given subordination. Low-level education and traditional thinking leads to domestic violence. We analyzed domestic violence in rural and urban areas of Muzaffarabad Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
