Since the famous Nintendo Entertainment System debuted in 1985, young players between the ages of 6 and 16 tended to play video games. As technology evolved, developers dramatically improved the graphics of video games. Therefore, it is possible to create a highly realistic depiction of a human being. However, in many cases, the game maker uses this to add realistic violence to the game. A 2015 survey investigated the effects of violent video games on young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In this survey, I could not find any evidence that these games positively affect ASD players. These results seem to contradict Sandy Hook's concern in 2012 after shooting. People with ASD or other mental illness may be particularly vulnerable to violent video games. A survey in 2016 showed that "sex discrimination" game (using the Grand Theft Auto series as a sample) may reduce compassion for women. Although no direct game effect was found, the authors claimed that interactions between game conditions, male character norms, gender and avatar recognition produced sufficient evidence to argue the causal effect.
