This is an extreme form of all-or-nothing thinking, we exclude all positive evidence about our performance and focus only on negative factors. There is no "all", this is the idea of all or nothing. This cognitive distortion creates automatic thinking, strengthens negative emotions, and explains negative emotions. If you try to do bad mood, you may have seen distortion of this cognition from the outside. If you feel sick, you may have seen it from the inside. Those who are catching up with this cognitive distortion are usually really frustrated by certain things, but this may not be clearly related to the topic before them. I am writing articles with students who responded to his paper work draft from the other three students. Our conversation looks something like this:
Student: I think I should throw it away and start over. This is garbage. Please look at what Chery said.
Student: Oh, as you know, even if it's really garbage, people try to say good things because they do not want to hurt your feelings.
Me: Uh, Chery is obviously not like this. But, if you want to start over again, do you have another topic?
Student: No, I did, but it did not help. They abandoned it like this. I can not get enough evidence to convince her.
He uses double criteria so people who cancels positive qualifications can not rationally discuss topics. Negative evidence is important, no matter how weak or irrelevant. No matter how powerful and persuasive you are, you can explain positive evidence. After all, the students doing the conversation just broke up with them and became very sick. But when you feel sad, this automatic thinking is more meaningless than when you are happy. The "logic" behind it is this: things are bad, why will not they aggravate them?
Eliminating positive qualifications is the process of transforming positive experience into a negative experience. A good example is the reaction of many people who admire "Oh, they are just good". Eliminating positive qualifications makes us believe that our value is lower than reality and life seems unnecessary. There is no real fact to jump to a negative conclusion and prove that it is justified. There are two types of this distortion: thought reading and fortune-teller's mistake. A reading of mind occurs when we think that other people are looking down on us without seeking the truth. This is our own worthless prediction and it makes it possible to take defensive action by withdrawing or attacking the negative reaction of imagination. Mind reading is self-destructive and tends to be a self-realizing prophecy that collapses relationships with others.
Positive positive eligibility: Positive experience is disqualified. It allows you to stick to a negative belief that this person may serve psychological purposes. "We are economically unstable" (this year is generally stable and we have not received any bonuses). Or, "My children are fighting scholars" (the children are mainly A and two Cs). Expansion / catastrophic or minimization: The importance of things such as your own mistakes and the success of someone is exaggerated. Instead, you minimize things until they become less important, such as their positive qualities or other people's defects. "I forgot to go to school with my daughter at lunch break! School will hate me." "It is my fortune to promote at work"
