Discrimination and Stereotyping of Japanese-Americans

A terrorist attack on the United States, many Americans are experiencing fear, sorrow, and great anger feelings. Many people from the Middle East have experienced great prejudice and discrimination and are identified as terrorists. Such emotions are very common in today's American society. Likewise, although not widely debated, Japanese Americans have already felt that these emotions have continued for generations. Asian Americans, especially Japanese Americans, have received serious discrimination as a result of immigration to American culture. This occurs in many Japanese preconceptions and stereotypes in the fields of immigration control, hatred crime, education and employment. Japanese Americans were successfully integrated into American culture, but they are still victims of racial discrimination. As Japanese migrated to America, they became victims of many white racial discrimination. This occurred between the 1880s and the 1920s, and more than 250,000 Japanese migrated to the United States. Discrimination against Japanese Americans is a direct result of extensive stereotyping of entertainment, advertisements and opinions of public leaders. Non-Asian Americans have some stereotypes about Japanese Americans. (F & F p. 384) Most of these stereotypes arise from Japan's imports in the United States, corporate fears and Japanese competition in world trade. This movie expresses the Asians as evil spoils "idiots" that are corrupt. Anti-Asian graffiti such as "Finding Asian Invasion" and "Blocking Yellow Tribes" can be found in dorm walls and elevated roads on highways. These stereotypes show the fear of non-Asians governing Asia. The phrases such as "Oriental Oriental" and "Little Fool" are also used to explain the deranged terms of Japanese Americans. African Americans are not the only racial or ethnic people discriminated by Americans. During the Second World War, Americans imprisoned a Japanese American living in the United States. After Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Americans were concerned about their safety. "We flew men, women and children from both the US and Japan in the fear of spying activity and destruction activity on the Pacific coast and took them in their domestic camps."
