When considering that most people migrate to the United States, the United States is a "place of opportunity" and I believe that they can realize all their dreams. For some people immigrants are living a richer and more fulfilling life. However, it is not necessarily the case. The place that must be "land of gold" (Marcus 116) is not always welcoming people with open weapons. Even after people become legal citizens of the United States, nature Americans often do not treat immigrants equally, but somehow treat their outsiders.
Another major difference between the 1900s and the present immigrants is that it is difficult to legally cross the border. Immigrants came to Ellis Island in 1900 and did a very simple "trial". If they pass, they will enter the United States. Today, people have to go through four checks on public health, immigration, agriculture, habit of entering the United States. The biggest resemblance of today's immigrants in 1900 comes from any country coming here to improve economic status. In the 1900s, many immigrants were subject to religious and political persecution and could not gain property or wealth. Europeans will come to the United States to seek religious freedom and stability of the economy. Today, in Mexico people are not subject to religious oppression, but due to the economic weakness they experience, many people were living in poverty. Therefore, many Mexicans migrate to the United States for economic security.
Today's immigrants are very different from the situation at the beginning of the 20th century, but there are still things that remain unchanged. People continue to immigrate to the US to provide religious freedom, employment opportunities, freedom from tyranny control, better living. In addition, immigrants continue to grow rapidly like the beginning of the 20th century, the CAP immigrant team said in the past 10 years that the population of foreigners has increased by 31.2%. Today's immigrants are quite different from what happened in the early twentieth century. At that time, it was easy to enter the United States, and most immigrants did not have documents or identification cards. Today, the borders are strictly managed, sometimes blocked. Immigration to the United States is a long and difficult process, and immigration may be repatriated to home country if it does not meet all the immigration requirements.
