Arthur Miller's crucible is an eternal work for many societies. Crucible was written to criticize the shameless behavior of Americans in the 1950s. The McCarthy era of the 1950s was similar to the hunting behavior of Salem. Miller's work is still related to today's political situation, but it was specially written to criticize that era. Both the McCarthy era and the Salem Witch Trial indicate the dangers of collective hysteria, the speed of rumors, and the inability to stop accusations when accusations began.
