Determinants of Behavioural Problems in Romanian Children Adopted in Ontario

Assessment of developmental state, affection and behavior problems of 56 Romanian orphans adopted in Ontario State The entire group was working within the normal range and was considered well tuned but within 6 months the facility Children who had received care in their developmental stages were superior to other children in developmental measures. Adoptors showed a pattern of abnormal attachment patterns. The frequency of secure attachments was lower than usual expectations, and no attachments were observed. Unexpectedly, it was suggested that the age of adoption and the length of hospitalization period are irrelevant to the result of affection, and it is suggested that the present preschool education related group system does not properly capture the attachment in the sample . Children with more institutional experience, children with weaker developmental abilities and children with unsafe attachment have more behavioral problems reported by their parents

The first measurement point shows that Romanian orphan group (RO, n = 46) has more behavioral problems than 29 adoptive Romanian children who were placed 4 months ago (early adopted child Familiar: EO, n = 29). And a group of Canadian children who did not participate (Born in Canada: CB, n = 46). In the second observation at the age of 4.5, 36% of the RO groups clinically scored within the "overall question" of the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). At home, the higher the score for the externalization dimension (illegal behavior, aggressive behavior), the lower the score for the internal dimension (evacuation, physical problems, anxiety / depression behavior).
