Approximately half of untreated depressed patients may be trying to commit suicide, which is still the third most common cause of death in this age group. (Bostik) This depression affects their school, family life and deprives of their self-image. Depression affects many adolescents and is often overlooked and not treated. What is depression? Depression is the most common of all psychological disorders, affecting 100 million people worldwide.
Most suicide attempts and suicides occur in adolescents with depression. Let's consider these statistics about teen suicide and adolescent depression. Approximately 1% of adolescents attempt suicide and about 1% of attempts to commit suicide lead to death (that is, one young man in 10,000 will die of suicide). However, in youth with depression, the incidence of suicidal thinking and behavior is much higher. Most teenagers with depression are considering suicide and believe that 15% to 30% of teenagers with severe depression will continue suicide.

The severity of depression in adolescence is due to the general lack of awareness of events occurring in society.
