Department Launches New Bicentennial Farm Program and is Accepting Century & Heritage Farm Applications

Alabama Montgomery - Alabama State Agriculture Industry Ministry has launched a new program to recognize family farms within the same family for at least 200 years. The farm contains at least 40 acres of land and must be owned by the applicant or candidate.

The heritage farm is a farm that has been active as a family farm for at least 100 years. The farm must have an important historical and agricultural aspect of interest, including one or more buildings for at least 40 years. The farm owns at least 40 acres of land owned and operated by the applicant and must live in the state of Alabama.

To date, more than 600 farms in the state have been recognized. All applicants must complete the registration form for ownership provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.
