For example, the definition of a word dictionary may be followed by the international phonetic transcription spelling / dɪkʃənɛri /. In the American English dictionary, a unique pronunciation system with a diacritical mark is often used. For example, this dictionary is translated as "dĭk'shə-nĕr'ē" in American traditional dictionary. IPA is more commonly used in the Commonwealth countries. However, there are ones that use their own pronunciation to repeat the system without diacritical marks. For example, the dictionary may be re-driven to DIK-shə-nerr-ee.
