Earlier versions of this article were presented at the 25th Social Theory, Political and Art Conference (7-10 October 1999, Nashville, Tennessee). We are extremely grateful to Pew Charitable Trust for funding this research.
Understanding the social value of art is always the goal of New York City's cultural and social welfare program. This is done by the Social Influence Project (SIAP) of the Faculty of Social Policy and Practice under the University of Pennsylvania and the Reinvestment Fund of the Community Development Financial Institution based in Philadelphia. Over the past few decades, experts have paid special attention to the economic interests of art and culture in the city. Research was conducted from 2014 to 2016
