Defining Religion

Eileen Barker stated that there was no consensus on the definition, but stated that effective definition is important for studying religion. It provides parameters to students. The field of religion research is very extensive. Even people who interpret sports as religion may not necessarily be correct. Definitions may include gods such as Islam and Christianity, but others are not (Buddhism and Shintoism). The broad definition of religion usually includes rituals, special symbols, artistic and musical styles, sacred or special texts, a series of doctrines, (good) moral and behavioral norms.

As far as religious issues are concerned. It depends on how you define religion. However, since I am writing and publishing three books on prehistoric religion, I think that defining religion in this way is no problem at all. The concept of spirit is a very general concept. By combining all these beliefs about religion and people's pride we can understand why people are very loyal to their religious beliefs. The belief of most religious believers should define the core of religion.
