The Statue of Liberty is owned by the United States Government. This statue was designated as a national monument in 1924 (National monument also includes Liberty Island and Ellis Island). These measures will make it as high as possible. In recent years, the recommendations were implemented by safety and crisis management (including physical conservation and interpretation 1982,) (2009) supplemented by comprehensive research on existing general management plan. In 1954, Ellis Island was closed until President Lyndon Johnson joined the Statue of Liberty National Monument under the National Park Service in 1965. Restoration of Ellis Island began in 1983, the immigration museum opened in 1990, and the building was restored to 1918 - 1920. Today's presence of Ellis Island shows the importance of immigrants in shaping millions of people passing through the US and the gate.

Ellis Island was declared as part of Statue of Liberty in 1965. As he acknowledged the historical significance of Ellis Island, this was done by President Lyndon Johnson.
