The death area of the Gulf of Mexico is about 6,000 to 7,000 square miles, but it depends on the season (Source 23879482371) (see Figure 1). Figure 1 Dead Zone Size An environmental problem is the destruction of a huge marine ecosystem. Thousands of marine creatures were killed and the entire ecosystem was destroyed. Hypoxia is dissolved oxygen and its oxygen level is less than 2 mg per liter. This kills the majority of the life of the fish, so it means that there is nothing to eat plants, so they grow more and bring a new cycle of death.
Algae can cause proliferation and dead zones, or water free waters, and life can not survive. In August, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced that the death zone of the Gulf of Mexico is the largest in history, 8,776 square miles as in New Jersey. NOAA noted that agricultural outflow along the Mississippi River and land development are the main reasons. The massive use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) by the agricultural industry is partly due to the high water pollution level. According to the US Department of Agriculture, According to the 2010 report by the Organic Center, total herbicide use of GM crops has increased by £ 383 million since 1996, including Monsanto's integrated herbicide.
Since excess nitrogen and phosphorus from agricultural fertilizer penetrate the Mississippi River system and are thrown away in the sea, the Gulf of Mexico has a dead zone every year. Every year, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) measures the death zone of the bay. There is no good news for them this year. This year's Dead Zone on the Gulf is the biggest dead zone ever. It extends from the Mississippi Delta along the coast of Louisiana to the Texas waters. It covers an area of 8,776 square miles - the same size as New Jersey. In the Midwest of the United States, the use of agricultural fertilizer has increased and rainfall has increased, so the dead zone has become larger in the Mississippi River and more nutrients have been washed.
As an ecological technique, trees are not fully utilized. "Working wood" absorbs some of the excess phosphorus and nitrogen flowing out of the farmland and helps to heal the dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico. In Africa, millions of acres of dry land was regenerated by the growth of strategic trees. Trees are also the thermal barrier of the earth. Keep concrete and asphalt below 10 degrees in town and outskirts, protect skin from sun's ultraviolet rays. According to estimates by the Texas State Forest Department, the disappearance of the shade of trees will cost hundreds of millions of dollars for air conditioning to Texans. Of course, trees can isolate carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas that warms the earth. Research by the Carnegie Science Institute discovered that water vapor from the forest reduces the ambient temperature.
