David Livingstone David Livingstone is one of the most important explorers in Africa. His life was from 1813 to 1873. He was originally Scottish doctor and missionary. Livingstone was born on 19th March 1813 in Blantyre, Scotland. In 1823 he began working at the cotton factory. While studying in Glasgow, he also received a theology course and served in London in 1838. After completing the medical course concealed in 1840, Livingstone was later sent to South Africa as a medical missionary.

From 1840 to 1872, Scottish missionary David Livingston made a series of explorations focusing on Congo in Western European countries. During these trips, Livingstone has been away from Europe for two years. New York Herald asked Henry Morton Stanley to search for him. The two met in Uji Temple on the east coast of the lake Tanganyika in 1871. Three years later, Stanley was asked to continue exploration started in Livingstone. Stanley began traveling the Congo from the upstream with three friends in the UK and finished the trip in 1877.
