DAR Aux Sables Chapter honors Good Citizens

East Tawas - The Aux Sables River branch of the American Revolutionary Girl (AAR) commemorates their 2018 DAR good citizen

Eight high schools participated in this year's competition. At the ceremony held at North Woods Steakhouse in East Tavus on March 10, Sue Allor awarded a certificate and held a ceremony honoring the winners.

This year's chapter champion is Owen Smock of AuGres-Sim High School. Owen was elected the state's top ten in the state's DAR Good Citizens contest. He will attend the East Lansing Michigan Awards ceremony

They will receive the national DAR Good Citizen Award. This award was announced at the 2018 Continental Conference held in DAR Continental Hall, Washington DC in June.

The DAR good citizen committee was established as a good citizen pilgrimage in 1934. In 1952, the name was changed to DAR Good Citizen, and local awards were awarded prizes, prizes and certificates. In 1974, competition was held for young men and women.

DAR Good Citizen's mission is to encourage and reward the "good citizen quality - reliability, service, leadership, patriotism".

The DAR Good Citizen program was chosen so that school teachers and students could choose senior students to prove excellent citizenship at an excellent level of reliability, service, leadership and patriotism. Only one student in a year can be awarded to the school's DAR Good Citizen. If you wish, students are eligible to participate in the DAR Good Citizens scholarship. The local DAR branch will provide courses and essay sports materials to participating schools

There is a prize and a different scholarship. High school graduates are eligible. The DAR section informs the local school about the award. Then each instructor at each school called their DAR to Good Citizen and told DAR. The school teacher is looking for these qualifications. Once a senior is named DAR Good Citizen, he / she is eligible to participate in a DAR Good Citizen scholarship. This includes transformation of grades, two letters of recommendation, and a form submitting the applicant's excellent citizenship. There are timed papers written by applicants under the supervision of a school teacher or a member of DAR.

The DAR Good Citizenship Program and Scholarship Competition Committee, founded in 1934, were originally called the Darlar civil rights pilgrimage. In 1952, the name was changed to DAR Good Citizens Committee, prize money was awarded to the winners of the state and nationwide. DAR was founded in 1890 by four women. Their common bond is that each person has a father or grandfather of the American Revolution patriot. The founder aimed to create an organization that "memorizes the memory and spirit of American independent women and men forever".
