Dangerous Authority

Dangerous authority From the day you were born, you have been taught slowly to follow authority. When you are mature, parents have guidelines, and you should stick to your own interests. It is difficult to see when you should reject everything you learn about obedience to authority. Stanley Milgram, psychologist, once said, "Submission is a deeply behavioral tendency, in fact it is a strong urge to overwhelm the training of morality, compassion and moral behavior" (359). Individuals are blinded by obedience to authority, without seeing how they are infringed or how they become weapons of abuse.

Every society must obey authority. One of the dangers of protecting authority is that it hurts other citizens. When society gives power, it should follow authority through rules established by society. According to this policy, society can prevent confusion. Following to prevent confusion is part of our daily life. For example, obedience while driving is necessary. When the police issue orders under traffic conditions, obedience is the key to the flow of traffic so citizens can go to town, work and pay taxes. If people have more than one or two officers, there is no way to stop flooding people. An example shows that obedience is a riot. How do you go to work and pay taxes in this chaotic situation? Because people usually do not riot, social order is maintained. In the event of a riot in society, armed security guards can not stop confusion and society will not function.

Following the authorities may pose dangers such as not being able to think about themselves and defending the principle, but not obeying the same obedience is equally dangerous. This article begins with discussion on Stanley Milgram's book "Subject to Authority". In this study, Milgram experimented with ordinary people in psychological experiments. The experiment is aimed at judging the effect of punishment on learning. People involved in the experiment were asked to give a mistake a shock of 15 to 450 volts while remembering the words.
