Dance: Writing a Critique

Please open your heart and observe the performance, listen, experience. Do not consider dancing as a movie; you must involve yourself and actively participate

Do some research. Criticism is not a technical term, but if you have some background knowledge, you can make your own work suited to the situation. What you may need to see is dance instruction, dance, composer, dance company and main dancer.

You may want to see these sources on choreographers, specific dances, performances or companies.

Write criticism. Remember, when you express your opinion, you must be supported by work experience. In other words, you can not say "Dance is very emotional", "You can say that the slow and intentional movement of a dancer represents a deep soreness and sadness." Explain, do not say!

Please re-read, edit, proofread, read aloud, have other people read your criticism, bring it to the writing center

When writing a dance review, there are many things to consider before running. Who's playing? Are they professionals or amateurs? Is this a new work or a classic dance reset? Who is the choreographer? Are they famous for other works? It is important to carefully meditate before seeing it. There are many things to consider during the show and should be included in your writing process. What kind of dance is this? Performance is experimental or traditional What is the cultural meaning of performance? How do elements of shows such as lighting, landscapes, clothes and so on improve choreography?
