Damon & Pythias: Lesson for Kids

One day your best friend got into trouble as he was talking in class, even if it was not true for him, and he was detained for that afternoon for 1 hour! Damon and Pythias (pronounced PITH-ee-us) are fictitious stories that are secured in the same way as two best friends of ancient Greek myths or defending each other and supporting you best friends. This myth is told as an example of true friendship. This is important in ancient Greek culture.

Damon and Pythias are always looking after each other. They live in an important and powerful Greek city, Syracuse (pronounced SEAR-uh-kyuse), and are dominated by a horrible man named Dionysius (pronounced die-uh-NISH-ee-us).

Dionysius is like a playground bully everyone is afraid of. He does not believe anyone, and there is no reason to pursue people.

Dionysius condemned Pythias as trying to exclude him as ruler, but it is not. He decided to kill Pythias

Pythias tried to show that he did not try to remove Dionysius. But like a bully, Dionysius never changes his mind to remove Pythias forever.

As you have lost your favorite game, in a sadly beaten mood, Pythias asked Dionysius if they could return home at least to take care of their families and then to meet his destiny Came back

Dionysius said no. Because he knew that no one is foolish for him who left.

But when you have a best friend you will never be alone. So Pythias asked Damon to come soon. Damon agreed to remain in Dionysius as a prisoner of the palace dungeon, but Pichia took care of his family.

Dionysius gave Pythias some time to meet his family, but if he did not return one day, he would kill Damon. Pythias agrees to leave his best friend instead of him
