In a short story, Gary Soto's "born worker", the protagonist of Jose, experienced tremendous change through diligence and honesty .........

Many people may mark themselves as hardworking workers, but few would say they are born workers. Jose who is the main character of Garrison's "workers" will be one of the few people. This story tells us that Jose showed not only diligence and perseverance but also humility and selflessness. I am working hard, I try to show this in everything I am doing, so I have a connection with Jose. This and other factors like descriptive writing by Gary Soto contribute to the feeling that it is actually part of the story.

Among short stories "born workers", the author, Gary Soto, reveals honesty and diligence through the cousin who is watching the life. The main character Jose learned through diligent activities that diligence and honesty make people more good people as well as good workers. First, Soto explained Jose as a little boy who did not consider much about himself or the future. He believes that he will always be a worker, and this is the life's existence for him. "John had a dirty ring on his neck when he was born, there was dirt on his nail and dandruff disappeared from the granular distortion of the shovel" (p. 84). This shows that even at birth, he is showing signs of years of effort. The painful life of his parents strengthens and supports these emotions. "My mother sewed by machine all day, my father worked steadily at the telephone company, climbed up the trash, crushed the sun, fixed the wire and looked around the streets" (p. 85)
