Crime and the legalization of recreational marijuana☆

The first evidence shows that legalization of the cannabis market in the United States has led to a decline in the crime rate. We use interlace legalization of recreational cannabis developed in neighboring Washington State (end of 2012) and Oregon State (end of 2014). By combining district-level differences and design of discontinuity in spatial regression, this policy will ensure legalization of rape and property crime in Oregon state from 2013 to 2014 and Washington state 2010 to 2012 I understood what was done. Legislation also increased consumption of cannabis and reduced consumption of other drugs, as well as ordinary and illegal alcohol consumption. In addition to traffic related crimes, the greatest advantage in reducing crime comes from the legitimization of marijuana for adult entertainment purposes.
