Creating the U.S. Constitution: A Time Line

The US Constitution has a history of more than 200 years. This is some important schedule that led to the Constitution.

1776 - Declaration of Independence; 13 colonies became 13 states, but were unified under the central government

1781 - The final battle of the revolutionary war has occurred and 13 states have established the federal government under the federal law.

1786 - Representatives of five states gather at Annapolis, Maryland and discuss trade issues between states. As there are very few participants, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison called for another meeting in Philadelphia.

1787 - The Constitution established meeting began in Philadelphia on May 25. 55 representatives attended and began drafting the Constitution. Since the representative signed the Constitution on September 17, 1787, the meeting is over.

1788 - After the State of New Hampshire ratified it became the ninth and last country, the Constitution became the land law
