Throughout his childhood in Charles Dickens his family often had difficulty financially. Dickens was sent to an aged factory at the age of 12, but this is a nightmare he will never forget. It is particularly difficult for Dickens as families make more debts. His family difficulties led him to write a book on poverty in a way he can express his childhood experience. "Visitors must go through a narrow, narrow, muddy road labyrinth", which shows poverty in one area of his novel 'Oliver Twist'.
