Coyote Stories/Poems

Karen · Leona · Anderson's poem "Coyote" lists the list of items that Coyote ate for the first time. Coyote is an omnivorous animal and a captor. In short, you can eat almost any food and eat again. They are used as killers of sheep, chickens and deer, but Coyote also eats snakes, foxes, rodents, pet cats, sandwiches and garbage. This may be the key to this success in countries where large predators are completely killed or oppressed by population growth.

For Coyster Coyster, there are several stories ("Coyote and the Pebbles", "Horned Toad Lady and Coyote", "When Coyote got married"). Ask the students to compare and contrast the role of Coyote in each story and the way he draws (his color, his size etc).
