Designer: David Man is the artistic director of Bloomsbury Press. However, he began a package designer for a while rather than starting a career designing book cover. As a book cover designer for Simon and Schuster, Mann designed covers for many writers. As a book cover designer, his favorite aspect is the opportunity to create a new image for the same novel one year later. Mann tries to read most of the title he designed and try to inspire the idea about the cover.

I asked ten book cover designers about the evolution of their design process. These designers share rejected works with electronic literature and clarify ways in which the final cover encapsulates the essence of the books best.
