Correction Officer Burnout

At any time, the disciplinary officer can have more than 400 prisoners (Conover, 2011). Working among hundreds of prisoners can be chilling and some of them will cause inappropriate engagement with attacks. However, other issues are affecting the mental health of the staff and personal safety. Harmful factors include large workloads, the physical structure of the prison, and lack of support from colleagues and bosses. The problem at each workplace complements the problem of the role, in particular the contradiction of role ambiguity and role (Schaufeli & Peeters, 2011).

This article describes the pressure and burnout of law enforcement and correction officers, their various causes, influences, and possible solutions. Law enforcement officers and remedding officers are probably the most stressful occupations, stress is a certain element and part of these efforts. There are many reasons for stress, such as shift work, excessive overtime, organization structure, family problems, and so on. For law enforcement agencies and correction officials, the impact of stress can be very great. It affects their overall physical and mental health and the quality of their lives. It may lead to burnout in due course. Stress and burnout affect not only individuals but also family members, friends, colleagues and organizations. Over the past few years, much research has been done on the pressure in the field of law enforcement agencies. And similar results were corrected to report the causes of stress and its effects.

Stress and burnout occur in all kinds of work and occupations. However, depending on occupation, there are things that are more prone to stress and burnout than work from other occupations. Both police and corrective staff are facing stressful work environment. Pressure and burnout of the police and correctional staff have a major impact on the field of criminal justice. According to Karen Hess (2009), stress can be both plus and minus, and this pressure or excitement is the reason many police officers enter the law enforcement field (p. 464). At any time, the police may have to shoot someone, be shot, chase a burglar, deal with child abuse, and see death. In addition, corrections officers may face violent conflicts and riots and may have to face dangerous offenders and other potentially dangerous situations.

Correctors play an important role in the prison system. However, fulfilling its role as an officer brings about stress and danger. According to the survey, orthodontic staff receives various stresses related to high stress, burnout, and other mental health from work reasons. The adverse effects of corrector's physical and mental health may have a detrimental effect on wider prison facilities. Due to the lack of staff and absence of staff, a dangerous cycle occurs in which the prisoner ratio of staff is low, the staff turnover rate is high, and corrective facilities can not perform appropriate safety work
